Welcome to Monsoon Illustration & Design! My name is Tessa Polder, I have been living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for the past 4 years. It's here that I found the inspiration for my illustrations. Every day in Cambodia, I see things that strike me as peculiar and often somewhat amusing. I have been wanting to capture these sights since I arrived but was focused on running a social enterprise that I founded in 2017, however, due to Covid-19 that business went quiet, so I took the opportunity to start drawing. 

So here we are. I take slices of everyday life that are unique to Cambodia and translate them on to paper using ink and watercolour paint. To me it is these sights that make Cambodia special and charming. Whether it's a person selling pineapples from their bicycle basket, a beautiful wooden Khmer house in the countryside or a moto stacked high with sacks and a bucket. This is where Cambodia gets its nickname the Kingdom of Wonder!
